ID this component group?
 

Going to see this bike tonight, a Bianchi Campione d'Italia (c. 1995?). The owner is 'pretty sure' it has shimano components. I'm thinking the rear derailleur doesn't look right, and I'd be interested to hear what others think. Might I be looking at Ofmega or Campy?

Are you sure it's not a 1985? The crank looks like a Campy NR/SR with replacement (non-Campy) chainrings. It's a fluted crank arm so it would be pre-1985.

As for all the other components, the pic is too far away for my aging eyes. Looks like a SR seatpost.

Hi there, the brakes look like bottom of the line Modolos to me (speedy probably), the seatpost is a SR Laprade. The Derailleurs? Never seen.

The owner told me he had bought it around 10 yrs ago, but it could have been used at that point. I just assumed it wasn't.

I'd rather it was older, with NR/SR components instead of newer Shimano.

The bike is a good price, and the frame makes it worth it to me. I was hoping it would have some cool components to boot!

Waiting for some Bianchi experts to chime in with opinions based on what came on the Campione d'Italia.

The RD, FD, and crankset are 1984 (or thereabouts) Ofmega - perhaps the Premier gruppo?

I'm going by Berto's The Dancing Chain in this case - he has a Premier photographed in the book, but the derailer is full-polish, not grey anodized on sections (a-la Shimano 600, Suntour Sprint 9000, Suntour Accushift Alpha X 4050, etc...)

The RD is only 1/2 there, and I noticed the full polish wasn't there in my pic, but the lines look similar.

How do the Premier components rate? Are they good quality?

I agree: it's a mostly Ofmega gruppo (possibly a later Premier range with grey accents) and Modolo Speedy or Flash brakes...check the Columbus tubing decal for "tre tubi".

The headset looks like the Ofmega ones on ebay as well.

Regardless, I think if those are Columbus stickers I see on the fork and frame, it's worth the 50$ he's asking.

I see what appears to be the Colarado Springs World Championship decal just above the shifters, which would make it a 1987 model, or possibly a late 1986 model. Assuming it is 1987, the spec components were SunTour Cyclone Accushift, Ofmega Competzone cranks, Modolo Start brake and Ofmega hubs mated to Ambrosio Elite 19 rims. Frame was Bianchi/Colmbus II A lower mid-range model, originally worth about $500 US.

From what I can see, the majority of components appear to match the specs. But I have to agree with Engo. The rear derailleur looks more like an Ofmega than a SunTour.
