Repainting Schwinn Head Tube Badge

The schwinn badge on a bike I'm restoring is down to the bare metal. I know it had a white background with black lettering before.

Has anyone attempted to repaint one, and if so how? Further, is it worth it or should I just let it go as is?

Seems you ought to be able to pick one up pretty cheap or even free, lots of people have them hanging around in their parts boxes. Repaint, unless done really really well, always looks a little "off". The black letters would be easy enough to mask off for the white back ground, but maybe not so easy to mask the white afterwords, since it would be new paint, and prove to adhere to anything sticky you might put on it. And then, there is the issue of the "fine print", where it says "Schwinn, Chicago, USA" or whatever in small letters on the badge. Now that would be hard to replicate!
