Schwinn Paramount!

The LBS had a used one out on the street that looks to be my size, in gorgeous red white and blue with oversized tubing. It's *way* lighter than the Univega Gran Record that's my current road bike, and I'm really thinking of going in there to buy it tomorrow.

It's got a mix of 105 components and some no-name crankset on it; the frame is in good shape except for some missing paint on the chainstays. They want $385--does this seem reasonable?

Cheers,
Daniel

That's a PDG Paramount – an Asian-built bike, made of Tange tubing. It's not a Waterford Paramount, but it's still a great riding and looking bike. In fact, I just bought one myself, a Series 3 in immaculate shape. I absolutely love mine. It rides great and the steel frame is stiff, but compliant enough over some of the larger bumps I manage to ride over.

I'd get it if it's in good shape, and judging from the photo, that seems to be the case. See if you can talk the shop down to $325 or so.
