3 Speed Hub Identification Needed
1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know the manufacturer of this hub? The only stamping is 3 fish hook looking things, and a US patent #. I believe it is rather common. I think I have three or four of them. I also need to learn how to adjust it,.. both the linkage, and the bearings. Is there a website out there, or is it just the same as a SA hub?? Thanks in advance!!

Oldroads.com has a blow-apart schematic for the 333. As far as adjusting, the linkage should have a little visual L N H indicator, just get the cable tight enough so that when the shifter is in N the indicator says N, and you should be able to shift into L and H fine.

Thanks!! Mine starts to squeak after ten or so miles. It doesn't squeak at the beginning of a ride. I lube it through the oil hole every fifty or so miles. Do the bearings become lubed by the internal oil, or are they greased seperately? Is the bearing preload out of adjustment?? Thanks in advance!

Wha?
I don't know. I took one of those apart a few months ago and heroically put it back together, but I can't remember the details much. I can tell you if you can avoid taking it apart do so, it's very hard to put back together. I believe the axle bearings are lubed seperately, like you'll want to grease them, but it seems strange that they would produce a squeak. I couldn't speculate what might be squeaking. If you take it apart some, do not pull the driver out, do not pull the axle out. If you can get the sprocket and dust cap off to get some oil to the, uh, bearings for the sprocket? Ring bearings? If you can do that without taking anything else out, that might be your best bet to get rid of a squeak. |
