Help me ID this Raleigh?
I found this Raleigh earlier today. Looking for some help ID'ing it. It's been painted silver, but the original dark blue shows in some scuffs. It has a milremo stem, weinmann 750 brakes, shimano front and rear der's, italia seat and it's a 10 speed. Any help identifying is greatly appreciated.

Quite a mix of stuff--the headbadge is pre 1971. The pedals are 40/50s rat-trap. I highly doubt the FD and RD are original. That Nervar cottered crank puts it at the low end of the range.

Thanx, I did manage to scrape off the paint to reveal hopefully all of the serial number 4049396

It's a '68-'70 Raleigh Record; probably a '70 -- blue was available that year. The derailleurs are obviously replacements as is the Milremo stem (the original was steel), but you've got the original crankset, Brampton pedals, calipers, and Huret downtube shifters. Looks like it has Weinmann alloy rims, which weren't standard, but period correct and a nice upgrade.

Is there any way to strip the silver paint off without damaging the original paint?
