wOw... It's finally done (pics)
As my "final" for my wheelbuilding certification I laced some Sun M14a's to Sunshine Pro-Ams using a 3-cross pattern and Sapim "race" double-butted spokes. This completed not just my time at UBI but also signalled the completion of the bike known as "wOw".
Without further ado: http://www.offcenterdesign.org/images/done.jpg http://www.offcenterdesign.org/images/done1.jpg http://www.offcenterdesign.org/images/done2.jpg http://www.offcenterdesign.org/images/done3.jpg http://www.offcenterdesign.org/images/done4.jpg Found this in my LBS sans hubs but all else intact if a little grimy. Bought the hubs that came with the frame (they had been unlaced from original tubular rims) Didn't appear to have been ridden AT ALL. I gave it some love, gease, new cable/housing, bar wrap, and finally built the wheelset and here she is. Went out on a group ride on Tues. 15 miles went by beautifully. Rode another 15 or so yesterday (fast). I LOVE IT! She's the lightest bike in my stable. Stiff and nimble; I feel confident on city streets, even with 32 year old brake pads:eek: It is going to be hard not choosing her for my everyday riding. So hard...
