wOw... It's finally done (pics)
As my "final" for my wheelbuilding certification I laced some Sun M14a's to Sunshine Pro-Ams using a 3-cross pattern and Sapim "race" double-butted spokes. This completed not just my time at UBI but also signalled the completion of the bike known as "wOw".
Without further ado:
Found this in my LBS sans hubs but all else intact if a little grimy. Bought the hubs that came with the frame (they had been unlaced from original tubular rims) Didn't appear to have been ridden AT ALL. I gave it some love, gease, new cable/housing, bar wrap, and finally built the wheelset and here she is.
Went out on a group ride on Tues. 15 miles went by beautifully. Rode another 15 or so yesterday (fast).
I LOVE IT! She's the lightest bike in my stable. Stiff and nimble; I feel confident on city streets, even with 32 year old brake pads
It is going to be hard not choosing her for my everyday riding. So hard...
You can check out the achived threads here and here.
The bike:
1975 Kuwahara wOw "classic"
The components:
Hubs: Sunshine Pro-Am
Headset: Dura Ace
Stem: Dia-Compe Gran Compe
Bars: Nitto Universiade 105
Brakes: Dia-Compe Gran Compe
Cable Guides: Shimano
Derailleurs F/R: Suntour Cyclone (1st gen.)
Shifters: Suntour Power (ratcheting)
Crankset: Sugino Mighty
Freewheel: Suntour Winner (6sp)
Seatpost: Belt
Saddle: Seamless Professional (Selle Turbo in pics)
Dropouts: Suntour GS

She's a beaut Clark!
Those wheels look great and I dig the color of that frame.

I can only repeat what nick burns said. What a beauty, and if it weren't for the fact that I have twelve odd bicycles and more on the way, AND that frame was a tad bit smaller, I'd be lusting after that bike. I love that silvery purple colour.

Nothing to add except I sure like the way the "dusty lavender"(?), white and chrome complement each other!

Very inspiring to all of us who like to start from scratch and work our way to a beautiful end. My hat's off to a very successful build. Well done!
