Anyone heard of Roold bikes

I'm checking one out now, made in France. Campy Valentino. Nice ornate lugs. Thanks.

Suspect that final letter is a D rather than an O.

Try searching Roold both here at the forum and other venues. You will find plenty of hits. The forum had a Roold thread just a couple months back.

Thinking a cleanup and overhaul. New tires, cables, cloth tape and a leather saddle. I think it will cleanup and be a nice rider.

Good plan. I would expect the same. Looking forward to seeing that lovely paint job cleaned up.

Looks like an early - mid 70s model year Roold, go squirrels!

What kind of front hub is on the bike, is it Nuovo Tipo?

I've never seen red Campy washers on the shifters before.

Are the washers newer?

I love boomer tens. The front fork, by the way, has so much rake it should be stored in a garden shed. You should post your progress on this post...

A local racer friend of mine rode a high-end Roold. Maybe he got tired of having an obscure brand---in 1965 he replaced it with an Oscar Egg.

Shouldn't it be "Go KangaRoo"??

Chombi, I believe the area in France where Roolds were produced is also known for their red squirrels.

The brand name and some of the caricatures used do tend to suggest a kangaroo.

Some late 70s Roold bikes display a more accurate squirrel caricature.

We hated the black wingnut adjusters on the Valentino levers. We used to call them Mickey Mouse adjusters because they broke so often and looked like Mouseketeer beanies.

Funny how a d can be mistaken for an o in certain fonts. I used to go past a business somewhere in North-central PA that had a sign out front that I swear said "The Four Winos". Only later did I find out that the business was named "The Four Winds"
