Viscount Aerospace Pro
Restoring this '70s bike; some corrosion is making it very difficult to remove the old sealed bearings from the hubs and bottom bracket. Suggestions? Also, the rims lack a shoulder like most clincher rims- meant for tubular tire?

I don't know about the hub bearings, but the bottom bracket ones are just press fit. Once you've removed the circlips from the bottom bracket spindle, you can bang it out with a hammer and a block of hardwood, and then bang out the bearing rings with a punch or an old spindle.
And it does sound like those are tubular rims--any remnants of glue? Neal |
There were 2 models of Aerospace pro, tubular and clincher rims being the only
difference. Sounds like you have the tubular model. you might want to use a screwdriver to gently punch out the bearings from the hubs, working from the inside and working around the bearing (judiciously tapping with rubber mallet or such). Would love to see pics of the bike. Doe it have all the original Lambert components? Marty |
