Tubular Care
Just bought 6 tubulars from Yellow Jersey and am wondering about how to care for them. First, they came folded and seem to have some somewhat permanent creases in the sidewall. Should I mount them on a bare rim and let them sit under the bed until I use them or some other method? I am just worried that if left long enough it could damage the sidewall. Second, should I coat the sidewalls with latex to prevent them from drying out? Just want to add that service from Yellow Jersey was top notch. Although I haven't ridden their tubulars, not sure on the name but it's the 3 for $50, they look to be good tires for the price.

What I would do is inflate them to 20psi or similiar and store them inside
in a cool dark place (under bed is fine). If you have old rims keep them mounted on the rims without glue (this is what I do for the most part). I wouldn't worry about the latex on the sidewalls unless you see that they are drying out, and that should take a long while. marty |
Stroke them gently every night before you turn out the lights.

I think they should sleep under the covers,,,
