Miyata 1000 (pic included)

Hello good people of the fourm.
Can someone help me date this black and gold Miyata 1000? I've seached about as much as I can stand...
Most components (but not all) match the 84' here: https://sheldonbrown.com/japan.html#miyata
Also the color is wrong. I'm 99% sure it's all O.G, though.
Bigger pic here: https://www.kstone.org/Miyata%201000%20black%20.jpg
All the same it's an awesome bike, can't wait to get dirty with it.
More gems soon.
Thanks. K

looks like an 88 or so. Had one just like it, bought for $160 or 180 and flipped it for $300 without putting a wrench to it.

send a PM to cudak888, he will know exactly what year it is and is our resident Raleigh expert. And probably the youngest prominent member of the forum.

'86, most likely Taiwanese-made. Fifth from top in the road racing lineup, trumped by the Japanese and/or Taiwanese-made Super Course and Competition, and the Nottingham-made Prestige and Team Professional; respectively. All are excellent machines, and the '86 Grand Prix probably delivers the most bang for the buck these days, considering that they usually don't command prices that are too high - that is, unless someone swapped out that 105 group for something else, such as the following:

Take care,

-Kurt

You got a great deal alright. Miyata 1000's sell for alot less than a Trek 720 but people are starting to take notice. Of course that means the price has started to climb. I paid $250. for mine and feel I got a good deal on it.

Keep us posted on your plans for the rebuild.

That might be the biggest understatement of the week. The last 2 1000s I saw on Ebay went for over $500. The last one went for over $700.

Your right. The word is out on the Miyata 1000. I think there is alot of interest in the older Touring frames and the 1000 is considered one of the finest out there.

Hills or $$$

Hey thanks a lot ya'll for the info and commentary!
Yeah, I realize that these miyatas are going for big bucks, but I've had this dream of touring Ireland for a long time now and somehow getting possesion of this bike has rekindled that dream...but dollar signs have definitely made their way into my eyes...

And cudak888 you were correct the Grand Prix is indeed Taiwanese-made, also, what would you suggest a Good price might be for it?

I have another curiosity here...it's a old mixte G.Lapierre "superlux". Anyone know anything?
I realize that they're (the company) still making bikes, fairly high end, right?

[url=https://www.kstone.org/glapierresuperlux.jpg]
[url=https://www.kstone.org/superlux.jpg]

Thanks again!
-K
p.s. I'm new, is it better to start a new thread for different bikes rather than continue?

Here's a Miyata 1000 on eBay that the seller (with many negative, neutrals, and less than glowing positive feedbacks) has turned into what many would consider a $40 bike:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220126298009

Wish I could set my eBay searches to block me from seeing any items from certain sellers.
