Fiamme Rims

I bought a pair of Fiamme red label (rectangular) rims on Saturday and want to
polish them up a bit. Does anyone know if they were typically anodized?

I'm thinking of relacing the wheels for the Pogliaghi and replacing the
Mavic Aspin rims with these, but need to polish to match the chrome fork etc.

Not speaking from vast experience here, but the Fiamme red label I got on the rear wheel of the Nishiki Pro was not anodised.

I don't think so. I used to ride on a variety of tubular rims 30+ year ago including Fiamme red and yellow labels and would often polish them up with fine steel wool. I don't remember seeing evidence of anodizing.

yellowjersey.org sells those rims NOS. You could call or email them, they would know. Or you could take some Mothers and rub a small spot, if it turns black, they are non-anodized. If they are anodized, the Mothers shouldn't scratch the anodization (is that a word?).

Test the glue area, Fiamme did anno the rims late, very late, probably raw but, test, don't guess.

I think as the later rims do not shine up as "fast" as the earlier rims, it has more to do with the alloy elements, they also it seems did not factory polish them up as much later.

Yellow labels and Scheeren rims polish up like chrome.

I have a pair of red labels that are not anodized and a set of yellow labels that are.

Not anodized and not too shiny.

yep, I second that. A very good way to find out if its anodised or not.
