M. Kint bicycle??????
 

Hey guys. Well here I am again with a new bike I got for 30 Euro. I could of gotten it for less but I was so excited to finally owning a lugged bike that I just said OK. I'm more than confused with this bike, for it's Decals claim it to be an M. Kint, as in Marcel Kint. I also have not been able to find any serial number anywhere. It seems that the "headbadge" is a sticker and some of the decal on the downtube also. Should I remove all the decals to see if it shows any clues of what the bike is? Here are pics of the bike. Sorry for posting so many, but it was done with the hope that someone can identify the bike. As an added bunes I got an old Eddy Merckx also from the same guy in really bad shape for an additional 5 euro!:D I'm pretty confident that it's not a true Eddy Merckx bike made in his shop but one made in Belgium nethertheless. I Post some pics and more info on another thread.

Good looking bike. I wish I could tell you more. I would not remove the decals as they give the bike a real nice, IMO anyways, appearance. Doesn't look like real high end equipment, at least not what I could see (crank & brakes). What's the rest of the drivetrain?

I took a closer look at the decal and the only ones that look like "real" stickers are the grey diagnol line in the frame. The Headbadge seems to have a clear cloat over it and I can't feel the edges. The parts that have M. Kint on them and the top tube red also have a clear cloat over them. The Motteo was place on top of everything; meaning it was obviously put on by the bike shop where this bike was first sold. I haven't called the number on the sticker but I'll do it sometime next week. Hopefully it's still open so they can give me some info hopefully.

The shop is closed (Bernard is 66 years old) and his son is looking to open a new shop soon.

Looks like a pretty decent bike for only 30 euro's. Nice looking frame and very ussuable if not high end components good job finding it. I would leave the decals alone they look to be mostly original to the bike.

So a couple of questions pop into my head, like, are you in anyway connected to your families business? Are you into bikes at all? Is Bernards son looking to get back into frame building? Are these bikes (and you) French?

Excuse my naivety, but I'm not really familiar with your grandfathers bikes. There are probably others here as well. Could you tell us alittle about them and their history?

yes, we own the factory that my grandfather started in 1954...so we are 100% into bikes ;-)
Bernard his son is just selling bikes (bike-on.be), he has never build frames.
Marcel Kint was Belgian, so these bikes are 'made in Belgium'.
