I think amber would be perfect for it, it would darken to about the color of the saddle with 4-6 coats.,,,,BD

Senior Moment
I just finished restoring my '85 Miyata two ten. I bought it for ten bucks at a yard sale last summer, and needless to say it was in rough shape. The wheels were trashed and the paint was beat, but the frame was straight and not too rusty. I decided to fix it up, and since I had a donor bike, it didn't cost me a fortune. I had it painted at a local body shop for $60. The only original parts on the bike are the frame, fork, seatpost and brake calipers. The wheels and handlebars came from the donor bike. The crank is a new Sugino triple, the headset is a new Tange Levin. Saddle is a Brooks B17. Shifters are used 6 speed Shimano from ebay. Derailleurs are Ultegra rear, and XT front. Tires are panaracer pacella, non TG. It's no lightweight, exactly 30 lbs. with racks and fenders.

The old amber shellac, hemp twine and wine bottle cork trick. Will most likely add another couple of coats of shellac

This is my 1989 Panasonic PT3500. Changed out almost all the components except for the wheels and seat stem. Great riding bike. Tange 1000 double butted. Weighs right at 30 lbs with the Brooks, seat bag, not including the Acorns pictured. Interloc 7sp freewheel, Shimano shifters.

Here is my 1987 Schwinn Voyageur after a re-paint. I went the quick and dirty route by masking decals and sanding and spraying myself. I wanted to get it on the road and evaluate how much I liked it before investing in a powdercoat. It actually turned out pretty good and so far I love it, so unless it chips badly I'll keep it as is.

Looks great! I just finished my 1987 Voyageur build actually, will have pictures soonish.
What front rack is that? The one I have did not fit the brazeons so I left it off, but would love to put one on.

The rack came with it and it is a Blackburn MB1 I believe. I think a saw a post in the touring forum not too long ago that they are coming back into production after an absence of a few years. A nice light and less expensive alternative to a Jandd or other heavy duty racks. I hope it handles a load as well. Seems pretty solid.

Nice! is that a Panasonic or a Giant built Schwinn? (should have been a sticker by one of the rear drop outs it if was a Giant). I'm thinking Panasonic due to the near vertical rear drop outs. My 88 World sport is a Giant and has horizontal drops. My 77 LeTour I think is a Panasonic.
