My dear Ol' bagsbike is lurking in the basement, and in commuter config currently. It's a great feeling to be coming out of the tunnel again... The maple sap is flowing & I hear birds singing, can't wait to squash them tires!

Nitto 25.4mm 42cm Randonneur. Some dolt had replaced the stock bars with a very cheap straight bar before I acquired it.
There's a thread on how I got them to fit into a French stem. It involved carefully sanding out ~.2mm of radius from the clamp area. The current stem wedge is frozen despite a bath in Liquid Wrench penetrating oil and I haven't had the ability to get up to Harris Cyclery, the only people I'd trust with this stem, to get it freed without damage. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did, since it cuts into the designed safety factor of the clamp, to fit the bars unless you weigh under 180lbs and don't plan on putting any additional weight on the stem. Hence the constructeur rack to carry 100% of the weight for a future Acorn handlebar bag.

Riding like its 1990
I'll hold off for a little bit on new parts as it'll be just a 20 mile a day commuter and I can "make it work". I'll see if I can take a look at the Nitto and the Salsa bars in person before making the choice. I like the way those Nittos look though.

I got around to cleaning the Peugeot Alpin I picked up recently and greasing the bearings, and I swapped a few components over from my drop bar MTB. This is the first BioPace equipped bike I've owned in over 2 decades, and I think it's working well for my occasional knee pain on 30-40 mile rides. Time will tell.

A few folks have come into the shop with knee issues and have hooked them up with Biopace rings or told them to keep the Biopace on their existing bikes as this will reduce some stresses on the knee... the design unloads the crank when stresses are highest and lets you pick up a little speed or maintain speed through the bottom of the pedal stroke.
I run one on my long bike and the low gear is especially nice when you have 100 pounds of gear and want to maintain a smooth spin and smooth power delivery.
I am always looking for those chain rings that no-body wants because someone with nothing but second hand knowledge said they were bad for your knees when the opposite is actually the case.
Shimano failed to market these successfully and the pros would not use them and now, 25 years later non round rings have made a comeback and actually increased the demand for old Biopace rings in some places.

Thanks badger_biker, I'm not crazy about the color and it's actually a bit small for me, but I still like it. It might go into the "frame doesn't fit" thread if I decide I can't live with it.
@Sixty Fiver - I didn't know they were coming around again, is Shimano leading the revival?

Tioga Mongrels 27"x1-3/8" 75 PSI Max. They were made in a Mitsubishi factory or something like that. I don't think they are made anymore, but some places probably have stock laying out.

I spent yesterday building up this mid-70s Schwinn Voyageur II for a friend of mine. It includes bunch of new braze-ons and a respray, courtesy of the wonderful Mr.Tom Teesdale. Very nice-riding unit. He plans on taking it out for weekend camping excursions. Keeping it original was not a concern - he wanted it to be a nice looking, but more focused on it being a comfortable rider.

Nice Pug. I like that color combo, almost Bianchi-esque.
Just picked up a Panasonic PT 3500 locally I'll be putting up for sale soon. Nice looking bike. I'll post up some pics soon.

Thanks, it's working fine as a commuter so far. I scored a nice PT3500 last year, it would certainly have been a keeper if it wasn't too big for me.

Just found the same front rack to complete my Blackburn trifecta and it is a genuine Blackburn to go with everything else.
Might install them tonight I am so stoked.
