Here are a few more: My main Winter Commuter Rain bike, a 1981? Centurion Pro Tour with 40 spoke rear wheel, 36 spoke front. A Sturmey Archer Dyno Hub ran a LumoTech headlight, "Aerox" triple crankset.
Backup Winter Bike: 1986 MotoBecane Grand Tour that came with a Stronglight triple crank & unique Weinmann centerpulls.
I sold both of these when I retired but first moved the Stronglight triple onto my Motobecane Grand Jubile & used the weinmann brakes for a Raleigh Super Course build. The Grand Jubile & Super Course are nice Sport-Tour bikes that can be used for light touring.

WV is not flat..
Early to Mid 80's Ross Gran Tour.. This must have been one of the better Ross's because I
have'nt found anything about it that fits in the department store class. It's a nice ride...

you all have some very beautiful bikes. here's my 1984 Trek 520 that i got for 20 smackers. it's currently set up for fixed gear for commuting in wet weather, but I plan to some day restore it and use it for touring.

After months of searching around here, I can finally contribute to this thread! I found this Univega Specialissima yesterday. The paint is rough but there's almost no rust as far as I can tell, and it seems to be a pretty nice frame, although I don't know where these ranked in Univega's lineup. The front derailleur clamp is actually broken at the hinge, and someone has installed a tiny screw in the seat tube to keep it from sliding down. It's a terrible way to fix the problem, but I don't think it will hurt anything. If anyone has a functional Cyclone front derailleur let me know! 
It came with 27 inch wheels, but oddly enough it also works with 700cc wheels even with cantilever brakes. I tried a set I had lying around and I hardly had to move the brake pads at all. Strange.

My '82 or '83 Miyata 610. I don't remember when I bought it. I do remember the salesman telling me that I would own this bike the rest of my life. He wasn't kidding. This bike can do it all, I even entered a Cat 4 race with it back in '85 when I had problems with my Colnago 10 minutes before the race was starting.
It's all original except the seat, which my Malamute chewed up about 12 years ago. I've also converted it to 700c wheels, but I still have the orginal Araya 27".

Mine's the blue one...well, they're both mine, actually, but the blue one is my main ride - Coventry Eagle 531 frame built up. The photo was taken during a tour of the Black Forest earlier this year.

Sorry that there was only one picture posted - that was the only one that was small enough to fit on this site. If you click on the link at the bottom of this post it will take you to the rest of the pictures which are posted on Webshots.com. The bike was also featured on the Velo Orange blog, which gave quite a bit about it's history.
The Chemineau derailleur was the first commercially available shift system of it's type, and was only found on the Chemineau bicycles, which were produced in St. Etienne, France from about 1911 until the late fifties.
The front changer is a Simplex, and was actually quite common in the early fifties.
You can also find information on the bike at a site called Tonton velo, and the derailleur is mentioned in Frank Berto's "The Dancing Chain"

About the original parts on the Chemineau - almost all are original. The rear hub was changed in the 70's, the spokes have been replaced, also. The freewheel, chainrings, and chain were replaced at about the same time, the fenders are new, and the saddle is an exact replacement of the original that I found on eBay. The bike has never been repainted.

I was so excited when I sw this thread. I'm currently building a 80's nishiki cresta with mostly suntour parts. The pics were taken when it was built up an a SS CX bike but I just couldn't bring myself to take it off road. Currently, it has a suntour topmount shifter and FD, a shimano 600 RD and stck diacomp cantis. I'm still looking for a wheel set (if anyone has a freewheel clincher wheel set PM me).
