Pretty cool wingnuts.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Everyone seems to like those wingnuts... the best thing is that they really work well to keep the wheel in place.
Since I found the bike (a 19955 Raleigh Lenton) I found some NOS Raleigh nuts for the front wheel, cotters, and seat post and swapped out the modern pedals for some that better suit the bike.
The 18 spd freewheel also got replaced with an 18 speed fixed cog and I have a white Bluemel frame pump (mounted) and Bluemel fenders that are period correct that really give the bike a finished look.

Sixty Fiver- I am a big Raleigh fan and that is one I envy you.
My Bridgestone RB-T touring bike doesn't get to see much real touring anymore. It is just an amazingly comfortable bike as an all-arounder. Everyting is original except the the elk hide hand stitched handlebar wrap (I needed to do a bike thing last winter) and an elk chain stay protector. Ron

This is old pic of my Miyata 618GT touring/commuter ride. Spline Triple Butted CroMo frame, Shimano 8 spd with newer 105 derailleurs and downtube shifters
, LX v-brakes and Dia Comp levers, Mavic MA 3 rims with Deore LX hubs Armidillo tires and Blackburn racks. I found a stem adapter that allows me use a 1 1/8 diameter stem. The front shelf rack is a work in progress. Since this picture I've changed to a XD 600 crank, Brooks saddle, a Blackburn Expedition 2 rear rack and differrent front panniers. When I bought the bike it had Suntour componites and flat bars.

Here's my Raleigh Record Sprint set up as a light tourer.
Been told it might qualify as a classic, if not vintage!

Rode it yesterday for 6 miles or so, and it glides along.
Now fitted a leather saddle, but the rest will probably stay the same.

It is an old thread, but I now have a bike to post up for myself. A catch of the day last week built up with some stock parts and upgraded with some parts bin parts. I have only purchased three things for it: VO Elkhide bar wrap, Thomson post, and Kool stop pads. Only the VO bar wrap is installed as the Thomson and pads haven't come in yet.

Looks great, bar wrap came out real nice!

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Dang... I promised an update of the Lenton.
It now has Bluemel fenders and a matching Bluemel celluloid pump that is more more fashion than function.
I am still pondering whether to wrap the bars in white cloth and shellac them or to get leather wrap.

I also have NOS cables that I will be installing.

does this qualify?
I'm not sure if my vintage bike meets the specifications, but it worked out ok on the road...
I tour on my old 1975 Motobecane Grand Jubile mixte. I already was using it as my commuter, so it ended up coming a few thousand more miles with me. Here's some pics of her when she was fully loaded. Not as shiny as a lot of yours.
She did surprisingly well, but I couldn't front-load her--If I carried too much weight on the front, I could definitely notice the difference.
I have Nervar cranks on her, but put on that ugly mountain biopace triple for the serious touring.
This pic has the original wheels, 27 inches, but I have since switched to some 700s due to the wheels being used until they were not worth re-building again. (Rims are very used, hubs are crusty, spokes are all due to be replaced).
You can probably tell that I haven't repainted or fixed her up--she works great as a city commuter, without being too shiny.

I finished putting together the build for my newly acquired 1985 Fuji Touring Series III frameset plus some parts. I was really happy to be able to hang 700c wheels on this frame, which was originally spec'd for 27" wheels. The old-school Shimano cantis I'm using seem to contact the rims just fine. I'm using the original Sugino RT triple crankset, but pretty much everything else is a mod: Soma moustache bars and handlebar bag, Tekro levers, SunTour barcons, Shimano Deore RD and Exage FD, Sun 700c rims w/ Campy Tipo hubs, Planet Bike Cascadia fenders, Brooks Pro saddle and ITM post (thanks, Top!). Glad it finally stopped raining so I could take some pics!

Neil, nice job on your Fuji. I'm jealous! I hope to see you up here on the North Shore as soon as the weather gets consistently better.

OK, Here are a couple, but the photos are about the same vintage as the bikes.
First is the Nishiki Royale I've commented on a couple times. Here shown in western PA en-route eastern PA, with the bags removed due to a rainy day off:

The rear rack was a Cannondale. Very stiff and really adjustable, compared to Blackburns (only thing I knew to compare to back then).
I sold the Nishiki in the fall of 85 in favor of an 84 Trek 620 seen here squared off against a Nishiki Cresta. This pic was taken in either December of 85 or Jan of 86, and both of these bikes went to Nova Scotia and PEI that summer. I replaced the 'dale panniers with some then-NOS Eclipse, which I still have and occasionally use. This was the last year of the 620 without the cast seat lugs, although I think it had the cast lugs on the dropouts.

Here's the Cresta atop Kancamagus pass, shown in company with a stray cyclist who rode along with us for a little bit. He had a very shiny 82 or 83 614 or 620 Trek.

One more... Summer of 87, somewhere in Missouri. Guess what this guy's doing:

Thanks,
I feel really old now.

Taking a closer look at the pictures, note the 3 pulley derailleur on the Cresta, the Cateye speedometer ring on the Trek, and the Silca frame pump. Old school stuff
