Weight limit on ALAN bike
 

You know the old ALAN anodized aluminum bikes? The ones that are lugged with glue used?

I'm not finding much info on them, but these were very light bikes using a technology that "didn't pass the test of time". Does anyone know if there's a weight restriction for the rider on these?

Just curious. There's one on the MPLS CL, and I was just digging around about it.

I have a late-80s Vitus that is glued like the ALANs are, and I weigh over 200#. It feels like riding a wet noodle, but then it always felt that way.

I weigh 230, and rode one for a while before selling it. They are nice bikes - light and fast.

I have one and I ride it occasionally now. I weigh in excess of 200lbs. They are lighter than an average steel frame, but not that much lighter - without stripping it and just comparing it with a bike of similar specs., I would estimate that it is a pound to 1 1/2 lbs lighter. It has a comfortable ride similar to steel.

Thanks. I was talking to a guy that owned one and he said it was for about a 130 lb rider.... so I thought I'd ask the experts...
