Cooper?

Believe it or not, I was actually given this bike. I'm already quite aware that it is nice and was quite the gift but have no information about it and never heard of "Cooper". Any info?

Has a Shimano 600 group and Columbus tubing
(Sorry for the crappy picture and other bike in the shot)

Very nice gift, and from a very respected builder...tho it looks a little small for you.
Here's a reprint from Bicycling in 1976, staging a "shootout" between Ron Cooper and Bob Jackson, check out some of the other Cooper pics in this site:

Ya unfortunately it is way too small, real bummer
I'm letting my girlfriend ride it right now though, fits her perfect, figures

Thanks for the info so far. So were these all built in London? Wonder how this got to Northern California...

It's difficult to get a small frame to fit a female. Nice frame, your girlfriend has a well built bike.

Actually Coopers are very popular in NorCal, thanks to Bicycle Odessy in Sausalito, among others, who imported them. I've seen a lot or Ron's work hereabouts over the years. Here's an interview he gave to a Mr. Sheffield where there is a lot of reference to NorCal, and seems he passed the torch on to a Mill Valley builder when he retired:

I seem to recall seeing either him or just his work at one of the NAHBBS shows in San Jose, am I right?

I lusted after these for years, and spent much time drooling over them at Bicycle Odyssey! Very nice bikes indeed, and quite a gift!
