Mercian. King of Mercia?
I'm going to go check this bike out later tonight.
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/380419295.html
From what I have tried researching in the last hour or so looks to be good. But.. the seat tube lug does not have the stamped in Mercian as I find everywhere else...
I have been in the bike pit with my Peugeot and I really need something that I can understand and easily upgrade. I just couldnt hang with my french BB.
any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to endup in another pickle situation Thanks

Check it out real good...looks bent from the pics but I could be wrong.
When you ride do so no handed and check for a pull. Remove the front wheel and flip it around. It should be centered the same as before flipping it.

good eye, I'll make sure to do so. If all is sane and she is straight is the asking price of 150$ reasonable? thanks a ton!

Cant comment on the price. It was the side shot of the front fork that looked funny to me. Sometimes its only an illusion but you cant be to cautious.

If its a straight, rot-free King of Mercia, pay the money and walk away quietly before your seller has second thoughts. That's a great deal.

I would buy it for that price. Depending on what kind of cranks and other un-named components are on it, I'd still buy it even with a bent fork.

+1 to that! A great price especially in the Bay Area, and I'd buy it even with a bent fork and go shopping for a replacement...the picture does seem to indicate something fishy with the fork, but you'll know when/if you see it.

I lust after Mercian bikes. When I've got a few bucks to spare, I'll order up a brand new one.
Mercian will make bikes pretty much any which way a customer wants (or they want, and depending on how many pints were consumed by the crew at the local pub at lunch that day), which might account for this one not having the "stamped-in" Mercian logo.
For $150, even if the fork is bent, snap it up. You can replace the fork.

I concur. Great deal with straight forks, still decent even if you have to replace them. Miamijim is right on both counts. The forks could well be bent but the "bent fork in the photo illusion" is pretty common too.

I looked at the pics under 2 magnification and this bike has an extraordinary number of touch up paint applied to both blades of the fork, as well as the top tube and rear stay spoon and on the gold paint on the down tube. The number of battle scars on this bike worries me.

Yea I assumed that would be the case with a good deal. Not much I can say, I'm pretty new at the whole "whats good what sucks game" so I had to do some research. Dropped the guy an email he said cool come out tonight. Then got a call that said its gone. Deals will always pop up again.
Now I sit and beat my Peugeot BB with a large sledge hammer....Yes I bought a Peugeot.. why? I got fooled into thinking it was a great deal and that I could upgrade it with ease. The nightmare continues...

The asking price was worth it for the pedals alone.
