Sekine model & age**********

A little help please, picked this up for $20 recently. Nothing special low end model, however, I've been looking for a CDN built Sekine but will start with this one built in Japan. It's in good condition all around, 6 speed w/ Lark rd and Thunderbird fd. Brakes units and handles are Dura Ace. I think it is all original including the rubber as it look's like it 30 years old. I like the retro look, reminds me of days gone by, dig the wing nuts and the Sekine stamping on the spoke protector.
Not sure of the year of manufacture and I beleive it's a SHA model. The SN is W88528. Help please. TMar still looking to add to your db?

Sounds like a 1973-1975 SHB on the basis of the wing nuts. Often the Tourney brakes would be replaced by Dura-Ace center-pull during times of part shortages. However 6 speed is wrong for the era, so maybe there have been some component changes. Bottom line, if the forks have chrome tips, it's an SHB. If they are straight paint, then it's an SHA. About the only place you'll find a date code on a Sekine of that period is on the SR stem (below the insertion mark) or if you're will to remove the tape, at the ends of the handlebars. I'd be curious to know what you find. Based on my current understanding of the serial number format, it should be towards the early side of the range quoted.

Thanks T-Mar. The fork tips are chrome. I tried to post a picture but I guess it didn't come through.
I will check the stem first and if no luck will look on the bars. Someone put hockey tape on the bars so it will be no loss.

So, it's an SHB. There was an equivalent Canadian version, the SHC.

My bad - it is only a 5 speed, not sure what I was thinking. I looked for a code on the stem and handle bars but could not find anything. I'm going to try posting a pic, keep your fingers crossed. How do you post pictures inside a reply?
Thanks T-Mar.
