Perhaps you should post more specs.

In The Netherlands this bike will do anywhere between 200 and 400 euro. But that is Holland were they don't understand the concept of classic bikes ;)

The RSX group is not that high. It has STI which for holland would raise the price with 33% (not exactly but you can add 100 euro for that)

btw you are crosschaining (big-big) and have a plastic disk which may be removed.

The real question is: what is classic or vintage about your Lemond?

Isn't anything with a steel fork classic?

Don't you hold onto a bike for longer than a week?!?! ;)

Recent ebay sales on your model.

Since yours looks to be an "average" size, maybe $500-$600?

EDIT: Looked closer...yours seems to be a bit older. Knock off a hundred or two?

Replace the RSX rear derailer with the newest and best thing you can get your hands on for a decent price (a couple year old Ultegra RD should do). If you can do that cheap enough, replace the crankset as well, or better yet, just put a flashy new outer ring (such as this: Bontrager ring) on it to get rid of that cheap, early '90s RSX/105 chainring look.

Otherwise, leave it as is - it'll appeal to the road crowd. Just try to get the emphasis off that RSX group.

Or keep the components for yourself (they are perfectly functional...not crap at all) and sell the frame, especially if you plan to ebay it. Frames ship for less, which would increase your profit, and then you have some nice spare parts to boot. Or better yet, put them on your wife's pink Panasonic!

Never said it was classic or vintage, just asked for help pricing it ;) I wish I could hold on to it, but it will just end up going in the long run as it doesnt fit me :( but the Schwinn SS fits me fine and is going no where :D I was thinking around that price range, but that low level group doesnt help much, Ill try to sell it as is as its all orig (1999) and see what happens :) Thanks JYBs for the link :) thanks all for the help :)

I just remembered. I gave away a pair of RSX brifters a few months ago, and then I looked at ebay to see how much they were going for. Doh!

This raises the question of what constitutes a vintage: any bike made before 2000?

for me it's anything looking 90s or earlier steel bike. Perhaps i have to distinct between 'classic looking' and 'vintage'.

A friend of mine had to buy a set of those old brifters and I believe he paid 200 bucks for them. The frame looks really nice. What size is it?

Not that the RSX parts are special, everyone knows that they are low end Shimano, just that they are not as bad as people make them out to be is all (not junk) :)

Its 22 1/2 inches from the center of the bb to the center of the top tube and 23 1/2 inches from the center of the bb to the top of the seat tube :)

I agree with you. My shifters are 7spd RSX too and work fine.

RSX brifters allow you to put STI shifting on a bike with 7-speed Hyperglide without spending further money converting to 8-speed, and without having to use with thumb-tab Soras.

And pretty much lugged too. That LeMond may be steel, and early '90s, but it is the last thing I'd consider classic or vintage - the oversized fillet-brazed frame and those decals have no character - it looks like a failed, modernized adaptation at looking "vintage," no offense to Ilikebikes intended.

Now if it had been lugged with oversized Columbus EL tubing, that would have improved things, although those "LE MOND" downtube and seattube decals still stick out like a sore thumb.

Depends on your market. If it is all working and in clean, ridable shape, I'd say somewhere between $300- $450 or so. New entry level bikes are in the $600-$700 range, so you need to price it to lure buyers wanting a more modern road bike but looking to save some money over new.

It is a fairly popular size, and you can write your ad copy to emphasize "entry tri-bike" - riding in triathalons is very hip with the weekend warrior/fitness crowd, especially in the major cities.

There was a Tourmalet on our local CL that was reposted weekly for several months priced at $600. He finally dropped the price to $500 and it stopped getting reposted so I assume it sold for that.

That seems like a good price to start at. I had a pair of Lemond's, a Reno and a Nevada City that I flipped last year. I ended up getting $500 for one and $450 for the other, but they both were equipped with more modern drivetrains (Sora/Tiagra). It also helped a great deal that they were small bikes, and the ladies looking for entry into the Tri world snapped them up.
