Anybody have any idea as to who or what company might have built this frame? It says Tange tubing.

I'd guess that it was an independent builder.

Yeah it says the brand is "American Iron" and there appears to be an AI logo on it so maybe it is some custom company that was short lived.

That is one aggressive riding position though, I guess you just stare at the line and go...

I'm sure Dr. D. will agree that funny bikes had it all backwards, recumbents are where it's as when it comes to aerodynamics.

Thats what I was guessing but thought someone would come up with something. 'American Iron' almost sounds like somebody that built motorcycles made a try at bicycles. It also had a unique rear brake at the BB as well as the single shifter which I thought was different.

I'd try the Classic Rendezvous email list, they usually know a little more about the really obscure American brands.
