Good news:

I found motorcycle/industrial powdercoater in San Antonio who said they would two color and clear coat for about $100. They have a guy that will sandblast the frame for $25. (Better than Spectrum's $600)

I don't think I can beat that, especially since I won't have to pay shipping now. Materials would probably run me that.

However, I'm certainly going to keep in mind all the tips here. Next week I'm taking the frame to them, and perhaps they'll look and get gun-shy, since they don't actually do bike frames.

I'm so excited to get this thing refurbished!!

Currently repainting my bike.
OK so first off strip all the hardware.
Then you gotta rub it over once with some rough sandpaper.
Then go to your local hardware store, get some chemical paint stripper
Start rubbing it over all that paint. Or if it sounds to messy use a sandblaster. (more $$)
Next get yourself a can of primer spraypaint and get a spraying. this will help prevent future rush.
Now either go to a car place and ask them if they mind doing it for yah. or you can get some more spraypaint. Spray it all on. Then get clear finish paint can and spray that on to keep it shiny lookin and prevent rust. Hope it helped yeah. Im currently doing this to my Mosh Bagley.

Here's one more question, before I take the frame to the guys in San Antonio. (Got all the parts off by the way...the frame looks great aside from the cosmetic damage!)

Can powdercoat be done in metallic sheens? I.e. chrome? I want to do those lugs in a different color. I'm going to do the tubes in (probably) RAL 5023 "distant blue"...and I thought silver lugs would look great! If there's chrome under the current paint (doubtful) I'll just have that shined up. But if there's not...is there such a thing as metallic powdercoat?

Or...what do you think would go well with a pale blue?

If you have a photo editing program, you can "paint" it yourself in thousands of different combinations.

Or, find some colorwheels online and start with complementary colors to blue; ones opposite blue on the color wheel. Pale colors will need a bold, darker color for good contrast.

Pale blue with a pale yellow-orange would be nice. I'm visualizing cream colors here, not metallics. For me, metallics call for something bolder; race cars aren't known for pale color schemes.
