Vintage Maruishi
Hello everyone: I recently came across a light weight Maruishi SR 5000 with Shimano 600 and Sante components. Does anyone have any information about this bike? I have found information about newer Maruishi bikes but I can't seem to find anything about this model. Any information would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I'd love to see pics!

I will take some tomorrow and post them it is two toned - fork and rear are a metalic mauve rest of the frame is light purple/silver. Awesome

wow, I'd like to see that one too ;)
romeova--that color combo sounds great. |
I've got a Maruishi as well, but your SR 5000 sounds higher up the chain with the 600 and Sante components. Does yours have Kangaroos on it?

Mixing of Sante with other components is atypical, but apparently it is original. Sante puts the bicycle during the period 1987-1989. I do have literature for a 1987 SR-5000 showing Sante derailleurs mixed with 600EX crankset and Dia-Compe 400 brakes on a Tange #1 frame. It sold for $849 US and had an advertised weight of 21 lbs. The color scheme is typical of the Sante equipped bicycles, which emphasized appearance, trying to attract the boutique crowd by cashing in on the Miami Vice trend.

Maybe so... But it was 9 years newer than yours when this thread last appeared.

I am sorry.

Mauruishi vintage road bike
Maruishi, Roos on the fork crown, not a good overall pic though of the bike, for a tall man. |

There is one for sale on Erie pa cl. Flat bars though. And no Roos on fork crown. I'd never heard of mauruishi before.

A guy I know at a bike shop has a steel Maruishi track frame with some sort of non-factory olympic sticker on it which I probably should have taken closer note of. If there's any interest I'll see if I can post photos. Makes me a little sad that some entire brands such as this have fallen by the wayside in both interest and information.

Bah, don't be sorry. Threads get dug up here all the time. I think it is a product of google putting so many bikeforums links on the first page of their results.
Thanks for the pic of your Maruishi! |
