Help Identify Peugot...

Looking at a Peugot road bike at a local used bike store. Serial number reads:8013290

It is blue and has stem shifters. Supre clean bike. Just wondered if anyone could tell me anything from the serial number!

Thanks!

Not a darn thing, Peugeot S/N's don't tell you all that much, unless Jim has been able to crack the code.

We need pictures...good ones, and not tiny, then we might be able to help!:D

p.s. a better description is also a good start...lugged or lugless frame?? Alloy wheels?? what brand of Derailleurs??

screaminDOHC 08-28-07 02:39 PM

Okay, its a blueish-greyish, with the checkerboard and peugeot lettering that fades from orange to yellow. Simplex derailierus, stem mounted shifters (simplex) simplex crank I think, Weinman brakes. Not sure if steel, or alloy wheels. They are not chrome, so they aren't chrome steel. Does that help at all?? Had suicide brake levers as well.

Just a Guess, as I don't have my reference material in front of me, but...

1979 to 1985 rang on the date. I'd guess '82 to '85
And it sounds like it's some variant on the PH10 or UO9/10/14. I'm not sure the P8 ever came with Simplex derailleurs.

Pricetag on it is $75 dollars. Too much? It's in super clean condition. Were the stem mounts typical? Would those, along with the suicide levers make it more of an entry level model? Looking for something to turn into a commuter, rack on the back and all.

redneckwes 08-28-07 02:53 PM

Many 80's Pugs had the safety levers, the entry level bikes had stem shifters, but thats not too terribly hard to change. Is there a Tubing sticker on it?? It's probably a Carbolite 103 frame,

(I.M.O.)
$75 is a good price if it's all there and clean, it should make a good commuter

screaminDOHC 08-28-07 02:55 PM

Yes, Carbolite 103 thats it! I couldnt recall what the tubing decal said!

I'll try out my database....hold please.

1983 PH10

It took 4 search filters

1. color (blue)
2. tubing (103)
3. decal style (stripes)
4. rear derailleur (simplex)

I got 2 hits....1983 PH10 and 1983 P19<mixte

Info for the 1983 PH10, Ignore the "82" in the filename
