http://www.townsendcyclesltd.com/index.html -check out the track and commuter bike.
this bike is not really vintage but i fell in love with it, it is now my background. Infact, i almost want to get that made into a picture for my wall. im obsessed with this bike. but anyway, i just thought i would share because it has classic lines, and you guys will appreciate it more than most.

I think I would go with one of the 'commuter bikes', but they are all lovely...

The road and commuter are dead sexy.

Absolutely on the money.

Dead sexy, and will leave the wallet completely dead as well. Maybe if I win the lottery. Odd that the stem is so plain though, on the cover page bike?,,,,BD

Beautiful bikes, but the modern stems on threadless forks are a deal breaker for me (not to mention the price). :D

Edit: Ha, I just saw your post BD. Great minds and all...

Did anyone catch this comment from a customer??? I shook my head, lol.,,,,,BD

"As this is my first steel bike I was not sure what to expect, I am very pleased at how lively the bike is and what confidence it inspires on the road, it climbs much better than I anticipated and is very stable on quick descents."

Yes, i do agree, the stems and headsets seem out of place. I just fell in love with the bikes, that was the only downside to them, and that doesnt even bug me that much. The price is the only thing holding me back. I would probably order one of those right after I ordered my BMW M5 if i won the lottery.

On the other hand, he does say he builds the bikes to the customer's specifications...one would or could assume that if one were to desire something other than modern stems and threadless forks that that could be arranged?

I still really like the commuter bike.

I think that would certainly qualify as a "keeper of the flame" (KOF) bike over on the Classic Rendesvouz list, which has stricter standards for C&V than we do here.
The stem on the commuter bike looks like it could be a quill, like maybe the cro-moly Salsa, no?

The commuter shown has a threaded headset.
