Faggin Project
I started taking apart my Faggin yesterday. It sort of becomes an archeology expedition. I probably won't send this out for painting until after christmas, I'll dispose of some of the components with my goal to end up with a totally Nouvo Record bike. Lots of photos.
This is the way I recieved it, complete with the original silca pump. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/fag01.jpg Modolo levers, I actually preferred these back in the mid-80s, the hoods are rotting away as good rubber will after 20 years and a lot of miles in California sun: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/fag07.jpg The brakes are late-eighties chorus that came off a Colnago of mine that met an untimely end, lots of engraving all over this frame, sort of remarkable now what you could get in a frame for less than $300 in the mid eighties: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/fag03.jpg Cinelli bars (criterium bends) and stem, these look almost like new: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/fag05.jpg more later. |
Looks nice. I spotted a Faggin for sale in the local CL:

wow i wish i had $600 sittin in my bike fund for that bike. i can always find a reason to end up in ann arbor to pick something like that up.

I recently completed a Faggin project.
My frame (faggin script indicative) pre-dates yours by a few years. Super Record components with NOS Modolo brakes. They ride great, a very smooth and stable feeling. |
I hate a friend of mine who removed the decals on his red faggin because people kept asking him about his '***-in'
|
Got almost everything off her last night, the lug work is sort of interesting:
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/TT1sm.jpg a little surface rust on the chromed/engraved seat stay ends, every joint on the bike has cutouts or engraving: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...cluster1sm.jpg Nicely finished fork crown on the top: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...rkcrown1sm.jpg But damn rough on the underside, I assume the crown is a casting, I can't imagine how much heat it must take to get a solid braze joint between that huge hunk of crown and the fork tubes: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...rkcrown2sm.jpg more later |
I'm working on a faggin project as well but building it with 2007 campy centaur components. *ducks*

more stuff.
The nicely rotted Columbus TreTubi decal: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...olumbus1sm.jpg This is the crank that came off it, Its a Specialized that I suspect is Asian in origin (the only markings on it are the arm length), standard Campy bcd and Gipiemme rings: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/crank1sm.jpg Underneath the crank, surprise surprise, a Dura Ace 7400 BB: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/bb2sm.jpg The cut-out BB shell: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ec05/bb3sm.jpg No markings on the dropouts, front or rear, the rear adjusters are still intact: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...c05/rdo1sm.jpg |
