70's schwinn derailleur cable and housing
Does anyone out there know a source for this stuff? I had no trouble getting brake cable and housing but the derailleur is proving a bit more elusive although I am using a Shimano derailleur in the rear the cable stops on the frame are bigger diameter than the cables that are out there these days and I really wanted to go with red cable housing, but the brake cable housing is grey so I guess this part of the build will stay period correct. Can I use modern cables and housing? if so what is a good source? Nashbar?

Basically I use modern stuff when it comes to cables and housing. It works so much better and until I approach the bike and come within 2-3 feet of cable, I can't tell that it's not original. Use the color of your choice. I've gone with white on my Collegiate, black on my Paramount, and grey on my Continental. Wait to you see my Super Sport.

I concur with the good Reverend; for safety, use modern cables, housings, brake pads, and tires. The combination I am using on both Capos is white brake cable housings and those distinctive and period-correct stainless steel Campagnolo derailleur cable housings.

Tried to order the red stuff from velo orange, out of stock. I see Sheldon carries the housing so I'll get it from him both the shifter and the brake housing
