Raleigh Olympian - any idea on the year?

I've got an old maroon Raleigh Olympian that I was told was purchased sometime in the 70s. I cannot find any dating before the 80s or with a 502 seat tube, which is what mine says. I think, and I'll check again when I have a bit more time, that the serial number is 2KMD649. Anyone know where I can find info on this bike? Or know anything about it? I've searched around quite a bit in the past and recently and have had no luck. It was purchased in Milwaukee, but I doubt that matters much, just thought I'd toss it in there.
Thanks for anything you've got!

an Olympian with 502, probably means it's at least 1984. One of the Raleigh USA guys will probably be along soon.

That actually looks exactly like it, minus the saddle.
I guess it wasn't bought in the 70s!
Thanks.

Maybe it was pre-purchased?

I think he started thinking about it in the 70s. Some purchases take serious deliberation.
