Alenax pedal system

Apparently I made a mistake when I passed one of these up at a garage sale recently. It had a $10 sticker on it.

Are these truly collectible?

I think they are worthwhile as a curiosity or museum piece. For $10-$30 I'd buy it simply to have one.

Surprised to see the bidding over $200 as I write this.

From what I read, the first time I saw one on ebay, it only takes a minute on the bike to know that the design is a real dog.

I considered getting it as a curiosity as well, but at the time I had too many bikes. Besides, it looked like an absolute piece of junk (oh, wait, right up my alley!)

But now that I see the bidding on this one, I have some regrets! And did you see the other BIN auction? $5000?!?! Numskull of the day candidate, it seems.

I think I read somewhere when these were new, that although the theory was good, there was too much energy lost to friction for it to be any benefit. Still, it would be an interesting piece of bike history.

I'd have given $10 for it just on the odd factor. You can always get your $10 out of it some how.

Just think how low to the ground you could make a chopper....

I'll have to look for one of those.
