Question re shift lever options for Trek 660

First, you guys have been very helpful as I am returning to my road bike obsession.

I have another 660 coming. I installed bar end shift levers on my present 660. What options are available to retrofit shift levers on a bike with Shinamo 600? Can I install brake/lever combos? How about MB shifters?

Thanks

We need more information. What are your plans and budget for the bike? Is it coming with a 6 spd freehub?

Good question. My 1989 660 is 7. This is a 1985 and I don't know if it if 6 or 7.

As far as plans and budget go, I'm just beginning to think about it. Basically this will be a fun project. I may trick this one out as somewhat of a CX bike. As far as budget goes, I am always in favor of saving money.

More importantly, did it come with Shimano 105 Golden Arrow/600 Arabesque specific downtube bosses like these (note the round design with tab, as opposed to the conventional square-end boss)?

If so, you're pretty much stuck with either the 600 or the 105 shifter design - I don't believe there are in-line cable housing stops for these either.

I ended up grinding down a Shimano 600 Arabesque lever when confronted with this problem:

I will revist this question with you all when the bike arrives and I can understand the specifics.

Thanks
