I just picked up another 3 speed. It's a peugeot. SA hub dated 1 83. anyone know what model and year it is?

weinmann sidepull brakes.
rigida aluminum 27" rims,
cottered cranks.
aluminum Philippe bars

the bike looks fast for a 3 speed

I don't know any specifics, but those Peugeot city bikes are cool. Must not be particularly heavy, too. With some new fenders, it'll be styling. Try these: http://www.velo-orange.com/veor46smfe.html

'83 or '84 PH40

'84 is listed as Burgundy only but its pictured in blue. Based on the SA date code it could be either an '83 or '84. Whats the paper sticker sya on the BB or nearby on the seatstay? Is there a stamped serial number on the BB or rear dropout?

Thanks for the info!!
is there a catalog online somewhere? I left the bike at the office I'll check the serial number tomorrow

how does that carbolite 103 tubing rank?

redneckwes 10-02-07 10:41 PM

Nice bike!

103 was Peugeots Basic steel in the late 70's up untill the mid 80's. Even though it's not a high end frame, old Peugeots ride really nice!

I forgot I posted that,

The pic in the link is an '83 model. There appears to be subtle difference in the blues. When you get the numbers post them as they appear including spaces.

Yes, Miamijim is absolutely right. Try to find a small type written paper label somewhere beneath the bottom bracket. It should look something like the one in this attachment. They can tell you a great deal about the bike. Unfortunately, they often peeled off over the years.

g-funk 10-03-07 01:00 PM

pretty hard to read but

2788663
PH10 54

miamijim 10-03-07 01:08 PM

That makes no sense. It clearly isnt a PH10!!! Whats the stamped number say? It should be on the BB or on the rear dropout.

g-funk 10-03-07 01:28 PM

I'm sorry

2788663
PH40M 54

on the dropout

Y30315018

any love from the peugeot serial code breakers?

miamijim 10-04-07 06:30 AM

Love is spread thin with Peugeot serial numbers.

model: PH40
color?? M
Size: 54 cm
sequential model number: 2788663
FRAME serail number: Y303 15018 I believe Y303 is a frame code and 15018 is the sequential number for the frame not the bike. Still working on that theory..
