shimano 600 hub->mavic ma40 value?
Sorry to post a stupid thread like this, but I need to know about how much a rear shimano 600 hub (7 speed) laced to a mavic ma40 is worth. some idiot backed up over my wheel, rear triangle and deraileur with his pickup truck yesterday, and I am wondering what the replacement value is. If anyone could help me out that would be great!

Another option would be to check Harris Cyclery (Sheldon's place). They still build wheels with older parts and would even use your old hub if it's OK, so you could get an idea there, as well.
PS, I have a tri-color 600 RD and indexed DuraAce DT 8-speed shifters available if you're interested.

hub = $20,
6 speed 600 freewheel =$25 (you didn't say if it was cassette or freewheel)
Spokes & nipples $15 - straight gage.
Rim = $45
Total $95
I think you might find that most sources higher, although a complete wheel more then likely
would be cheaper. Some might have a cheaper source for MA40 rims, but they tend to be
pricey.

I paid $40 + shipping for a lightly used 7 speed wheelset with MA-40 rims and Shimano 600 hubs with a new cassette and decent Continental tires included. There are bargains to be had on eBay on "obsolete" 7 speed stuff.

It's worth whatever you can get from the insurance company. It's not like you can go to the LBS and grab a new one.
