Raleigh Sirocco?

I recently acquired a Raleigh Sirocco for free and I've searched Sheldon Brown's website, Google, and any old online Raleigh catalogs I can find, and I can't find any information on it.

It seems to be a racing bike or sort, due to the lack of fender/rack eyelets. It's made of Reynolds 501, has Weinmann sidepull brakes and levers, concave 700c rims (don't remember the make), Sugino GT cranks, Sakae handlebars, Suntour derailleurs and braze-on downtube shifters, and a Brooks Vitesse 500 saddle. What is this thing worth, and is it any good? I'm hoping to bring it back to its former glory.

Here's the pic of the Sirocco 12 from the 1984 Raleigh catalog on Mark Bulgiers' site: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalog...4/ral84_04.jpg. See the next page for the specs.

Looks like it was 5 models down from the top. Looks decent enough. I have no idea of the value.

That's good to hear. Is it possible to rebuild the rear hub to a new rim? And do they make any new concave rims to match the front?

Thanks a lot for the help. This is the first decent bike I've owned in my life.

As long as the rear hub is sound (races aren't pitted or grooved), it shouldn't be a problem to build it to a new rim. Finding a new concave rim, on the other hand, would be more of a challenge. I don't think they make them anymore, so you're then waiting for an NOS model to show up on eBay. There's nothing special about that original wheelset, so upgrading it wouldn't be a bad idea if the bike fits and you like riding it.
