Falcon Merckx BB Conversion

The folks in mechanics suggested I go fishing here to make sure that there was nothing unusual I needed to consider in the following process:

I need to convert a 70's Falcon of England Merckx from cottered to cotterless. Does anyone know whether:

a) the bb shell is English threaded?
b) there are length compatibility issues with a standard cartridge bb?
c) if so, any good ideas for either spacing out the new bb or a conversion kit i can use?

Thanks a ton -

BB is English

Spindle length depends somewhat on your crank selection

Started same project on a Falcon San Remo. I plan on putting a cartrige bb in mine. I have a new nashbar 68x110, that I will put in first then hit the parts bin to match a crank that will provide a good chain line
