fit 700c on canti thats made for 27in

is it possible to fit 700c wheels to canti brakes that are rigged for 27in? Maybe even using the paul racer or moto bmx brakes? I already bought the rims...

thank you for the help

Just out of curiousity I put one of my 700C road bike wheels on my touring bike with 27" wheels and cantis. Everything seemed to work just fine. I suppose it will depend on your specific setup though.

I was wondering about that on my new Voyageur, it looks like it wouldn't be a problem to rotate the brake pad down a bit to hit a 700c does anyone think changing the angle slightly would affect braking?

You could try it on the rear wheel first and see. Might even stiffen up the braking action

You'd need to lower the pads by about 4mm because 27" rims are 8mm longer in diameter. Check if you have the reach on the brake arms.

Second data point: I have a 1984(?) Santana Arriva that we bought new but haven't ridden in years. While putting new tires on it last week I swapped the front wheel with a 700C wheel and it looked like it would work, no problem. The brakes are old Mafac cantilevers. I suppose modern brakes would line up ok, but as stated by Kommisar it may depend on your setup.

It seems to work fime on my 1983 Fuji Touring. My guess is that it will actually work better as the brake pads wear a little bit so more surface hits firmly on the rim.

A little sandpaper will speed those pads' breakin. An electric sander would be even better. Just a few seconds and they'll fit perfectly.
