Texas Cyclesports

I recently bought some Veloflex tubular tires from Texas Cyclesport on closeout at a remarkable price. They were advertised as 'well aged' which was fine with me, I would coat the skinwalls anyway.

The tires promptly arrived and I inflated them to hang for awhile before mounting. I got busy with other projects, and about 2 weeks after the tires first arrived I found time to mount them. When I started to dry mount the first tire on a wheelset, I noticed the tread was cracked from age, crap! I look at all the tires (I had bought all they had), and they are all cracked.

It's Saturday afternoon, 10 days beyond my return date cutoff, so I call Texas Cyclesport and explain everything to MJ (Mike). He remembers the tires, and says yes, go ahead and send them back, but he can't sell anymore at that price, which I understood completely, but there will be no re-stocking and a full refund. I was good with a store credit, given the circumstances, but Mike said he would just credit my card back.

I send the tires back, and he receives them late Thursday. First thing Friday, Mike calls me and says, "Yes, the tires are bad, so sorry. I talked to my distributer, and he's agreed to send out a complete order of new tires at no additional charge. You should have them by mid-week."

The tires I ordered were at dirt cheep prices, well below dealer cost, and probably below the cost of his distributer. Mike and Texas Cyclesport went well out of their way to accommodate me, and I would like to suggest that any members here looking for great prices on almost anything at least check them out.

They have great prices on Veloflex and Continental tires, I just bought another $300 worth of tires from them. They ship immediately and are great to deal with.

I have no connection, other than being a satisfied customer.

They are located at https://txcyclesport.com

I bought some modern Campy stuff from them awhile back and was quite satisfied as well.

Had nearly forgotten about them, glad you posted.

Whoa, now THAT is service beyond the call. I think I will be ordering from them soon, if that's how they
handle their customers. That is almost unheard of.,,,,BD

+1. I buy all my modern Campy from them. Pretty much because they always have the lowest price. But the service has always been good as well.

Thank you OFG.

I have been looking at their Record/Open Pro prices, and they are tempting.

Do note that OFG's post is nearly four years old. Hope those good experiences have continued!

FWIW, They are still on my list of folks to buy from. I think they will match UK prices for some stuff (tyres).
