Samuel D. Lee was a photographer in Ava, IL in the 1900 census. By 1910, he had moved to Herrin, IL. The 1890 census does not exist for Illinois, and I could not find him in the 1880. So, the photo is apparently no later than 1909 (just in case Samuel Lee moved just prior to the census in 1910), and is possibly as early as 1900 or before. I take it that there is nothing written on the back of the photo?

Now let's see if someone can come up with the bike!

(wrong era headbadge, but the circular design with the cut outs and diagonal scroll dates back to at least 1900)

Just looking at how the seat stays join well before they attach to the seattube and toptube, reminds me that nothing new is really new. It's hard to see in the picture of my 2003 Cannondale, but it used the same technique.
