I found Diadora shoes (mid 80's vintage) on ebay for less than 30 bucks.

What I really miss are the old Avocet touring shoes, with their grooved rubber soles and steel shanks. They were great for both cycling and walking.

I am still using mine, although not as often as I'd like. Otherwise they would be worn by now. Only drawback is on some pedals, the grooves don't line up with where I want to place my foot.

John,
I recently picked up a pair of those for $20 off ebay. I used them back in the day
when I commuted and loved them. I see them from time to time on ebay
keep watching they do show up.

I still have my old Duegi's from 1985 and I think they're in your size, but you ain't gettin' 'em. They're the only cycling clothes from back then that still fit me! :)

eBay and patience will yield shoes.

Which type were you looking for? Smooth leather or wooden soles for nail-on cleats... or the later two-bolt type for similar single-slotted cleats from the 1980s?

43s are easy, try getting 47s, I waited 3 months to get these (I'm somewhat cheap, it's actually easy to get 47s if you want to spend more than $30).

My key word searches on ebay:
vintage cycling shoes
vintage bike shoes
leather cycling shoes
leather bike shoes

detto pietro
vittoria shoes
duegi
marresi

would like perforated leather, don't care much about the soles. I guess later slotted cleats would be easier to find. Have any?

How about these?

SWEET! - Better bid as high as you can afford and just snipe them late in the bidding. They're becoming pretty rare and desirable, and Dettos are the top ot the heap as far as brands go ...

Damn, those would fit me too... but... I have enough unused junk in my Museum already. :o

Good Luck !

It's easy to do this all at once:
(vintage, leather, detto, vittoria, duegi, marresi, cycling, bicycling, bike, biking) shoes -(look, florsheim, wallabees, "hush puppies", "Thom McAn")
You get the idea.
