Yeah I think it would be funnier and perhaps even more useful if I keep the three-speed stock and add the aeros on top of the North Road bars. Funky, for sure, though.

Penny (my Peloton) is back!
Following a short 'resting' period (frameset only), and after a very brief and very fleeting thought of seeing her to another home in the wake of my '85 Paramount's build and subsequent revelation in ride quality, alas, I could never let her go. Her fire red paint and our many memories made trivial work of any thoughts of separation.
A thorough cleaning and re-waxing of her paint commenced, and she would be fitted with the Marinoni's brace of 7800 Dura-Ace, RoS's de facto favorite component set. As a man of many Prologo Scratch Pro saddles, a 'spare' white one would be fitted, as white synthetic leather bar tape would wrap the super light Williams compact bars. Black stem (conversion) and seatpost would join the chorus of black speed parts to provide ample contrast with the white elements. Silver, as always, would be the aesthetic glue to join everything together.
The test ride was quick. The weather and roads were temporarily dry. Tired legs, cold temperatures, and a dying head lamp meant little time in the saddle. But it was enough to re-familiarize myself with her lithe, precise nature. Indoor photos, sadly, remain the M.O. for now until a dry weekend arrives for a chance to attempt to show her true red's nature in direct sunlight.
So for now, let this be a taste! A true sisters sibling rivalry between Schwinn's top two offerings. The timeless, understated and alluring beauty of the Paramount vs. the fierce, heart strings-tugging fiery red beauty of the Peloton...

Good question. One of the more popular definitions is if the bike is 20 years old or more, and this one is 19 years old. But if it came with brifters originally, then equipping it that way is somehow less significant.

Finally finished the Rossin build. The down side is that it really is too small for me, so I'm going to sell it. Well, that will make room for another build!

This is my newly built Fuso; the frame is from '85. It was in terrible condition, paint wise when I bought it and I came up with this color for it and had the shop add a braze-on for the FD. Weighs just under 20 pounds as pictured and I still have to change a couple of things_ it now has silver skewers and it needs the seatpost polished and the seat leveled properly...

I haven't checked this thread is a while. I must say, this is the most natural looking bike with the newer components that I have seen. No part looks new. Even the pedals look like they could be original for some reason. It just looks like a well maintained vintage bike. Like maybe you discovered it in your Father's/Grandfather's garage, knocked the dust off and took the picture. It could be the chain guard. It pulls it all together. Well done.
It's worth noting, though - the bike started off as a 2008 Raleigh One-Way, which is a single-speed cross/commuter bike. I got it in a trade for a 1985 Raleigh Marathon that didn't fit me very well

That is why it is well done. It looks like a bike you could see in an old European film, except for the sloping TT of course.

And to think i almost sold this one. Keeping it but adding some cx tires - turn it into a gravel bike.
