Thanks gomango. I have already christened it with a wire hooked bungie. Of course it has to hit dead center on the downtube:(

Hang in there!

You have proof the bike actually gets off a wall.

So many folks I know have picked up Cinellis the last six months.

Might have to find one this winter and give her a try.

Just finished putting it together today. My first legit road bike.

Yo, Adrian_

That's nice. Excellent, aggressive frame.
Based on the fit you show, you know how to ride it, too.

Were you riding illegal road bikes before, or have you come over from some other biking?

Adrian_ 09-16-12 07:23 PM

I started out riding a brakeless fixed gear on the street because it was trendy, then I started doing longer rides a while ago and it just got more and more impractical so now a year later I have this.

Welcome to the enlightenment. Glad to have you on board. Your fixed gear legs will like the ability to let the gearing do some of the work.

i started out doing the same thing..

Great looking bike, Adrian_!
Love those vintage Treks, steel or aluminium.

Here is my recent re-fit of my lady's 84' 610:

Brooks B17, 700c wheelset from velomine, ultegra 6500 rear derailluer (sticking with the original 600 vibe), velo orange faux-hammered fenders, athena 9spd levers. Changed my Ironman over to 2012 veloce, so I moved my shimergo setup over to her bike-- doesn't look too bad, and most of all she loves riding it. :)

Adrian_ 09-17-12 09:39 AM

Your Trek is solid too, the yellow tape fits in nicely.

The bars are Civia Emerson's, for the price they're pretty nice.

How well does it shift? I'm surprised that you aren't using a Campy rear derailleur for the Shimergo. I never was able to get mine to work with that type of setup.

Shifts are spot-on perfect, though that's due to the Shiftmate, not anything special on my part. I've got one running on my Ironman also currently mating an otherwise-full campy 10sp drivetrain to shimano 10 wheel & cassette. Cheaper than cassette spacers, and I just couldn't justify a new campy wheelset given the great deal on my 105 / Open Pro wheels. Works like a charm.

Love the Daccordi. I was nearly lucky enough to get one like it but missed out.

Beautiful.

rumrunn6 09-19-12 07:40 AM

tempting ... do you have to change the front & rear derailers or can you get by with just the STIs?

Can we count a 96 Titanium as vintage yet? I'm putting 10 speed on it :)

4 years? 2 decades is a pretty long time!

jbchybridrider 09-19-12 08:47 PM

The future of vintage is coming, don't fight it. ;)

Beautiful work, as always.

Have you perfected Shimergo? What are you running, Veloce 10 with Shimano 8 or something else? How has it been working for you? I've been very happy with my Chorus 10-->Shimano 8. Not perfect but better than straight Shimano 8.

1986 is the usual cutoff date, 1996 is 10 years too new, IMO.
