Leather Question

The other day I saw a leather saddle in poor shape with a black Magic Marker price written right onto it. If you found a nice saddle with marker writing on it how would you get the writing off?

I'd start with xylene but there are a lot of nasties at your local Ace. I'd worry that any solvent could discolor the leather around the mark. I would try it somewhere it couldn't be seen first.

I'd leave it alone & let my bum eventually wear it off.

lacquer thinner then redye the whole thing black.

Lacquer thinner will take the dye right off. I started to strip the green off of this one, but I ended up selling it as a pre-aged new saddle at a bike swap for more than I paid.

Check with a professional grade shoe repairer.

rubbing alcohol takes off sharpies on a cd, I'd try it on the leather.
