Two vintage bikes $30
4 Attachment(s)
I picked up these two bikes yesterday on CL for $30 for the pair. They were on a new CL site that doesn't' get much traffic yet. They had been there for several weeks. I drove the 70 miles to get them but I was going that way to see the leaf color so it was not really out of my way. One is a like new Schwinn 1974 Le Tour and the other is a Huffy Chesapeake all so like new. The gentleman was the original owner of both. The Le Tour is well documented on the net but does anyone know anything about the Huffy other than it weights a ton.

That Huffy is not vintage, it's like new because it is new. I doubt it's more than 10 years old.

OK, one vintage bike. My wife likes the Huffy better than her Panosonic 500. She rides so slow the weight doesen't make any difference to her. She is just a coaster brake girl at heart. I thought the Huffy had a newer look. Thanks Naom

that le tour looks awesome man. I would love to find a le tour on the cheap like that|!

I believe, based on the decal design, the Le Tour, is either the first or second year Schwinn offered it. While it's not super high end, it is collectable and looks to be in great shape. And got both bikes for a great price!

John Thats what I was thinking also. There are some vintage bikes that collectors are looking for but I am to new at this to know what bikes are the good ones. The LeTour is a rather common bike but maybe because it is the first year it will bring a better price. I cleaned it up and detailed it yesterday and it really is a good looking bike. The derailers had a 20 year layer of grease on them. I need to mix up some colors to match the blue for touch up and it will look like new. I have been building model aircraft since the 50's so I can make almost any color in very small amounts that will match so well you can't see it. Very clean bikes with a well known name with good tires go for $100-150. in this area. I am going to ride it for a few weeks just to get it out of my system. It is a 31" stand over and I like a 33" better.

Testors #1108 brush, and #1208 spray model paint. Dead on match. No mixing needed.,,,,BD
Well, maybe a drop or two of black in an entire bottle of #1108. Really you can't tell from two feet. |
