To Repaint or Not to Repaint, that is the Question...

So, I have a 1981 Miyata 1000. It is a great bike, if a little heavy (I am 225lbs, so who's talking...)

I am truly torn as to whether I should nut up and get it repainted. Near as I can tell, it will be $4-500. Frame cost is zero, as I have owned it forever.

I love the idea of have a great vintage frame with a sweet finish, but I am also acutely aware that it may be smarter to just save the coin and buy a new vintage frame (damn the Ebisu is beautiful...).

I really am torn, and I need counseling on this.

My road riding consists of a 36 mile commute that I do 2-3 times per week and the occasional long weekend ride.

Thanks in advance.

Get it powdercoated its not nearly as expensive I had one done for 130.00 plus tax it came out great.

I have splurged on one ca. $500 professional repaint and have no regrets, but I would strongly consider either powercoat or even rattle can for anything short of a real classic.
