Bianchi (70s or 80s) info???????

My aunt passed down a two tone bianchi bike to me. it is a racing bike and i myself have never races or done anything with the raod bikes, i stick to the more rugged mtn bikes due to the rural location i live in. The frame color is the classic blue/green (celeste green ?) with a peach/salmon color on the front and back vertical post, with silver chrome on the back derailler part. it has a hand pump that stays inside the frame. The frame is a Columbus SLX, with columbus matching fork with a "made in italy" emblem. "3 ttt" handle bars that says "mod superleggero, Italy made" over a crest with olympic rings (engraved in handlebar). brakes are "royal gran compe". most all of the components are "campagnolo" and the shifter are the old levers. It's a 14 speed bike and works nicely. My aunt said that the bike wis given to her from a friend back when she was in high school and was a very nice bike in its time. im curious as to what the model is and if it has any real value. I looked across the internet and did not find any mention to the peach/salmon color of my bike. Thanks for the help!! how can i post pictures???

Columbus SLX is a very high end tubing. I would bet that it is one of Bianchi highest models from the late 80's but we need pictures of the bike (from the drivetrain side please) and components to make any sort of identification. The exact components would help narrow it down. To post pictures, upload them to a site like http://s195.photobucket.com then use IMG tags to display the image. WOw what a mix!

1st gen C-record RD, chorus FD, Record retro-friction shifters, no clear shot of the hubs but I guess record, chorus/victory/athena seat post. Campy SL pedal probably.. I recognize that symbol on the cranks but forget what it is... very nice bike. Looks like a super record headset... PS the rear derailleur is probably the most valuable single component on the bike.

The brakes are very nice too and are essentially the exact same shape and design as late model super record/cobalto.

Very cool. Looks to be an early SLX frame, and Reparto built. That fork crown is pretty rare and would be mid 80's. I've never seen that color combo. Does it have a bottle cage mount on the seat-tube (I can't tell from the pics)?

If you are going to keep, it really deserves a full C-Record gruppo! If you are going to sell it, PM me.

That 'Riverniciato' slash on the SLX decal indicates that the frame has been repainted which might explain the unusual color scheme. Sure is an odd mix of parts. A beautiful frame though. I think it might look better with Super Record but C-Record would certainly be nice as well.

wow thanks for the feedback, i am eager to know more about it. the framE has two bottle cages mounted, one on the main post with the seat and one with the bottle in it as shown, the grip is loose and needs replacing. it is an odd grip since it is the pattern of the WWF (world wildlife foundation) on it with the panda bear and all. the first owner must have decided to get it quite personalized. My aunt was babysitting for the guy and he was quite 'well to do" and decided to give my aunt the bike since he had moved on to a newer one (she berly used it really). THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO!

First the Bad News, then the Good news: From what I can tell, ALL parts on this bike appear to be NON-Original except for the SR HS. As others have said, this is a repaint, why the unfortunate mix of salmon on Celeste, I dunno. More bad news, the repaint has covered a lot of original chrome. The frame is most likely one of two very high Bianchi Specialissima Team bike models from 1984 or 1985.
Notice the rear brake bridge: Only came on 83, 84 Specialissima X-3s, and or 1985 Mondiale and Specialissima X-4 (first generation). Notice fork crown, (Cinelli model) only came on 83, 84, 85, 86 high end models such as X-3, Mondiale, Centenario, X-4. I thought it could also be a 1985 repainted Argentine replica, but the head-tube has a decal not engraved ensignia into the head-tube. In any case, this bike came with complete Campy SR, most likely fully pantographed.
Here's the confooosing part: single chromed chain stay sez 83, 84 X-3. Pump Peg on head-tube sez 1985Mondiale or X-4. On the other hand, maybe both rear chain stays were chromed prior to repaint which would make it 85 model for sure.
With all that said, this is most definately a reparto course racing frame of which very few were made. If I had to put money on this I would say that this was an European marketed bike that most likely was a late 1984 model Specialissima X-3, where they started putting the pump peg on the head-tube.
Thats my story and I am sticking to it.
P.S. I own 2 1982 Tipo-Corsas, 3 (I think) 1982 Specialissima Superleggeras, 2 1983 Specialissima X-3s (I think am the only one who has 2 of these), 1 1985 Specialiisam X-4, and about 3 1985 and 1986 Mondiales. And no, they are not all ridable. peace.

Excellent find! Wont take much to clean it up tune it and ride. Even though you mountain bike, its nice to cruise on a road bike. These kind of bikes come into your hands not that often. Can you also ID the rims and tires. They may be tubeless, from the pics they look like a mismatch. The bike will be an excellent rider, with tremendous snob appeal. Take Care

Quite a mix of parts, Specialized double crankset by Sugino is similar to the triple on my 84 Expedition. Could have been built up from a used frameset with whatever parts were handy.

I am the current owner of this bike and was wondering what a approximate value would be.

Hello Montie, welcome to the forums. that is a neat looking Bianchi. I never heard of one that coloring, but judging by the 'repaint' decal it must be a custom color.

can you post some current pics in the apprasail thread? the custome color and the mismash of components will hurt the value somewhat.

OH BTW if the frame is infact SLX that dates it to the later part of the '80s and most of the components are from that period, as well as the style of frame decal
