Humber Question
 

I bought a humber 3-spd for $10 at a swap meet about 2 years ago, just because I loved the chainring, and am now getting ready for the restoration process. The bike looks like it was ridden a few times and put in a barn. I'm not planning on doing a truly authentic restoration as it is missing its fenders and chainguard (don't know if it came with them, though, thanks sheldon). I stripped the bike of every bolt and nut, polished the rust off, repacked the seized bb, and other misc stuff. I will post pics when everything is done. I cut the handgrips off. they were very rough and hurt my hands. They were a grey rubber with some sort of harder material pressed into the rubber, maybe cork?

My budget is $40 give or take. 20 for cleaning supplies, 6 for crank cotters, and the rest for the grips.

Question is, what kind of handgrips should I use?

On a side note, the dunlop tires are in very good shape, considering the age, and if someone wants to trade with me so they can do an authentic restoration, pm me

edit: i found the 3 spd handgrips on harris cyclery, but they dont seem right for my bike. i was thinking dimention leather grips, will those work considering the handlebars are nonstandard size?

I'm surprised no one has tackled this one! How old is the Humber?

I would use cork grips but that is a personal opinion. They would look period IMHO. I plan to use them on my club racer build. Also if you can find them, the smooth round plastic grips would work.
