The "Before And After" Thread

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
The Rudge when it arrived... shifter cable was busted, tires were pretty cracked, and there were many places in the rear wheel where it had rusted clean through.

After a little cleaning up and polishing, with with a rebuilt rear wheel and my Brooks B66... and we still have a ways to go...

I also finished my Peugeot PLX8 and need a few new pics...

I had forgotten about this thread. A perfect place to contrast the difference made in the riding life of one '72 Schwin Super Sport.

I am not even a Schwinn guy, but WOW. That is easily one of the most beautiful bikes out there.
Certainly the best looking Super Sport I have ever seen -by far.
If there were a prize for "best before and after", you just made it a race for second!

Finally finished the reconfiguration of my Cinelli. As received, it was configured with 9 speed indexed DT shifters, aero brakes, and a standard double/12-23 rear drive-train. Oh, yeah - 20mm tires and really ugly bar tape and stem.
Very beautiful to look at (except the tape), but more-or-less unrideable for me around here.
Changes included new tape, 23mm Michelin Pro Race 3's, a nice classic quill stem, and a complete Campy 10 speed drive-train with a triple crank. Record BB, Chorus crank, Centaur shifters and dérailleurs. A subtle change in looks, but a world of difference in performance.

Still not "after"
Still not "after", but getting there. Frame goes out to get pin striped this week. Then it's ready to assemble. The saddle is still in the UK being rebuilt, but I have everything else done.

Uhhhhhh, DAMN! Pardon the cursing, but that is an awesome looking build!! Especially considering the original condition.,,,,BD
Are those original grips rubber or cork. If they're cork, I think memory lane classics may have something similar....
Update: Memory lane is sold out of the cork shorties. From personal experience they never get anything back in stock....

I'd say the Pierce just made it a race for third.
Where'd you get those tires?

I've never seen any repro grips that size, most are bulky balloon tire types. But I've been told that most of the race bikes were half wrapped in white cloth tape in the 20's and as far back as the teens so I'm going with that.

I plan to ride the bike a little bit so they are a great compromise over an NOS tire, which would be damn exspensive if you could even find a pair for sale.

I love checking out these pics. Absolutely beautiful work on the Pierce and the Schwinn Super Sport.
Sorry if this is a noob question or FAQ, but when these types of complete repaint and restorations are done, how are the graphics on the bike achived? The Schwinn Super Sport looks like it's been factory stenciled?!?
Look forward to seeing more great pics!

The top tube stencil was made from a repro decal, the downtube stencil was made at Keith's shop from a photo of an original bike but with some "artistic license".
