Let's revive this thread. Here is one of my latest rebuilds that turned out pretty well. Great utilitarian bike and will go to our neighbor who is going to be going to Fla as a snowbird this month.

Here's my latest restoration build. Paconi was a local Melbourne frame builder (Kevin Wigham) around in the late 80s and 90s. I usually keep the original paint but this frame had hideous yellow powder coat and the wrong decals.

One of my "faves"!

My Fuji's "before" photo from the original ad. It was up for sale for weeks. It turned out to be one of the best fitting bikes I have ever owned.

Here's my MIELE UNO LS that went through a number of builds until I decided on Mirage 9-Speed Ergo levers and rear derailleur. Bike was $10.00 with the original 27" wheels at the not so local bicycle co-op. I don't have images of it as it was when I got it. All the following images are with various 700C wheels.

1st. build.

2nd. build. Sora 8-speed

3rd. build Shimano components and bar-end shifters. I also spent $60.00 to have a custom frame builder add cantilever brake caliper braze-ons, cantilever cable stop bridge, rear rack mounts on the seat stays, and a third pair of water bottle braze-ons under the downtube.

I really do need to get it out and take a few images of it in its fourth and final build. Basically the same as the 3rd. build but with the Campagnolo 9-speed Ergo levers and rear derailleur.

It make a nice road touring bike.

Cheers

This picture was taken on the one and only ride I’ve had with it. Snowed two days after pic was taken. Sadly not enough saddle time to get sufficient feed back but what little time I rode it felt like it’s going to be a winner.

Even though I don't ride this bike and seldomly does my wife ride it the blue tape and housing grew out of place for me.

What treatment did you give the frame, fork and fenders? I assume no repaint. Looks great.

No repaint or touch up. It was remarkably well preserved. Heres my product lineup, left to right in order of use:

I did start some of the particularly dirt-filled areas with WD-40, but the rubbing compound did most of the work. The spray wax might be overkill, but it does shine up nicely.

1980 Motobecane Grand Sprint as found with a set of wheels from my stash just to keep the frame so I can move it around in my shop

With red Mundialita saddle

Final build with Brooks B17 Champion saddle
I bought this as a bike without wheels for $20 . It was pretty rusty and had random parts that did not make sense to me.Shimano 105 RD and FD , the seat post and stem were stuck . It had been stored outside on a balcony of an apartment in Ventura for some time. There was enough there to bait me into taking it on. It was my size and longer wheel base than my other racers so something I could add fenders to if I want. I decided to have the frame powder painted due to the rust penetrating the paint in places . The powder paint job was very reasonable and it came out fairly nice . I then decided to go more with a seventies vibe on the decals. I used mostly Campagnolo components but left the original cranks , brakes , seat post , and handlebars/stem. I am still doing some finishing up . I plan to put Panaracer gum wall tires(matching!) and then ride the heck out of it. This bike will be more relaxed so Im not sure how that will go. A couple of trips up and down my tiny cul-de-sac was promising. The main reason I used original cranks was the 40 tooth small ring .

This was about a year ago. We got the frame and some parts from scozims estate find. I had a 6700 Ultegra group, so we built this up for Thomas.

Hmmm....seems I've been messing with quite a few bikes since I last posted.

This is the full bike picture from the ad I bought the KHS from.

Dirty, dull with gunky Shimano 105

Fully refurbished with Dura Ace 7400, revitalized paint, and more modern wheels

This rare David Kirk built Fishlips brand road bike was picked up as a frameset with bars and brakes only.

Minor paint touch up, Daytona groupset, Zonda wheels, 20 lbs 6 ozs of rolling steel goodness

Shimano 105, 7 speed indexing DT shifter not working with the Campagnolo 10 speed cassette on these cool looking heavy wheels.

Full refurb all paint, bearings, etc. Swapped saddle, bars, pedals, wheels, tires, and added some STI shifters. My fastest bike last year.

Olmo SanRemo frameset only

Fairly modern build with Campagnolo Chorus/Record 10 speed parts. 19 lbs 13 ozs
