1991 Schwinn Crosscut; hopefully my last bike for a long, long time. It's incredibly comfortable, and my first bike that I can say fits me perfectly. Incremental upgrades to follow down the road.

Double-butted, lugged chrome-moly frame, 21 speed Exage 400LX group.

Love the quirky Biopace; shifts like a dream.

I just finished a Schwinn Crosscut that I did want to keep for myself but have since changed my mind. I acquired this bike free of charge from a friend who bought it at a yard sale on the cheap. I decided that I wanted to keep the Sun wheels for another project and replaced them with a set I removed from a Trek 720 that had a bad frame. In my after photos I had the seat and handle bars adjusted so it would fit me for testing, I returned them back to a better angle when I was done. I did do a lot of touch up painting both to the frame and components also. The only new parts that were used were cables, chain, bearings & tubes everything else came from the parts stash.

I like this bike, I had one of these when I was in my late teens and I didn't know a lot about bicycles. I did horrible & nasty things to it like painting it multi colors with model spray paint. I just sold the handle bars for $76 which is the only part I kept before scrapping it many years ago.

Robbietunes,

As you appear to have given both bikes the anti-C&V treatment, you are henceforth to be known as "Robbietunes the Heretic" and are banished forthwith. Any further transgressions will result in your being burned at the stake (a Tange #1 stake, of course).

What are you talking about?

Those are Robbietunes bikes that I guess you were calling me out on as it seems you have issue with the modern parts. For the record I'm not sure this is a restoration thread and I happen to like the modern components he put on those bikes. Modern being a relative term. Those wheels Are about 15 year old Vento's.

What I was pointing out is that it I believe it is the same wheels on both bikes, not same model wheel but the exact same wheels on both bikes as in one set of wheels shared between two frames.

Don't mean to answer for Southpaw, but those are Grand Bois Hetres 650bx42. They come in creme, red, and black.

Oops!

Post fixed and smiley added because I wasn't "calling you out", it was an (apparently) failed attempt at humour. Jeez, lighten up a bit.

True. The Cinelli no longer runs the Ventos. Nothing I had looked good on the Ironman, and the Cinelli seemed destined for some custom tubulars, which are significantly lighter. The fuscia decals on the Ventos were driving me nuts against the red, and they don't seem to bother the Ironman, so there they reside. Funny how a set of wheels will determine the group you can use....

If I must fry, fry me with Tange 1....

When I showed one to a fellow BF member, he said "you can't make up your mind between the 80's and now, can you?"

stuck in transition, but not in traffic...
